Indigenous Land Acknowledgement

Queen’s University occupies the unceded territory of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. We are forever grateful to be able to be live, learn and play on these lands.

Acknowledging the land that Queen’s University is situated upon is an opportunity for all of us to consider our own positionality and relationship to the land.  This also gives space for all of us to pause and reflect on what reconciliation, decolonization, and Indigenization look like for each of us.

Registration

Registration opens on Saturday morning at 8:30am in 230 Goodwin Hall, known as the Computing Commons. Signs will be posted, and volunteers will be available to help guide you and assist with building access. Please pick up your name badge, grab a cup of coffee, and get oriented to the buildings before heading across the pedestrian bridge to Walter Light Hall 212, where the opening remarks will begin at 9:15am. Coffee and snacks will be available throughout the day in the Computing Commons.

Building Access

Please note that many buildings will be locked throughout the weekend, and access may occasionally be limited. There will be signage posted on doors directing you to accessible entrances, along with phone numbers for the organizers in case you are locked out. Anyone wearing a Queen’s Computing lanyard has key access to all rooms and will be able to assist you if needed. Volunteers and organizers will also be present throughout the event if you have questions or need assistance.

Conference talks will take place in parallel in Walter Light Hall Rooms 210 and 212. These rooms are on the same floor as the Computing Commons but across the small bridge. All rooms have HDMI hook ups, chalk boards, and microphones. If you require any additional tech support, please ask any volunteer with a Queen’s Computing lanyard.

Parking is available behind Walter Light Hall, off of Clergy St., between Division and Barrie. The lot is free on Saturday and Sunday. Paid street parking is available in front of Goodwin Hall and Walter Light Hall on Saturday, but is free on Sunday
